Crafting experiences that transcend ordinary tourism

Travel is not about visiting places, but about deeply experiencing moments. Being present transforms ordinary journeys into extraordinary memories.

As founder of Original Travels, I've dedicated my life to sharing Morocco's hidden treasures—not as passive attractions, but as living, breathing experiences that transform travelers from observers to participants in our rich cultural tapestry.

My approach to travel design emerges from a profound belief that true discovery happens when we slow down enough to fully inhabit each moment. Whether tracing ancient paths through the Atlas Mountains, navigating the labyrinthine streets of Fez, or watching stars appear above Saharan dunes, every journey I create is an invitation to presence.

With decades of exploration across Morocco and beyond, I've cultivated relationships with artisans, nomads, and keepers of tradition who open their worlds to our travelers, creating connections that linger long after the journey ends.

CHILDHOOD
Atlas Mountains Berber Village

Roots in the High Atlas

Born in a small Berber village nestled among the Atlas Mountains, my earliest memories are filled with the rhythms of traditional life—the songs of shepherds echoing across valleys, the hands of artisans transforming raw materials into treasures, and elders passing down stories under star-filled skies.

These formative years instilled in me a profound connection to the land and its people, along with the dream of one day sharing the authentic beauty of Morocco with the world.

The mountains taught me that the most valuable treasures aren't things, but moments of connection—with nature, with people, with oneself.
EDUCATION

From University to Mountain Guide School

My path led me from university studies to the prestigious Guides School, where I transformed my passion for Morocco's landscapes into professional expertise. Earning my mountain guide diploma was more than an academic achievement—it was the realization of my childhood dream.

Those years of training deepened my understanding of Morocco's diverse ecosystems and cultural landscapes, while teaching me how to safely navigate its most challenging terrains.

Becoming a guide wasn't just about learning routes and techniques—it was about understanding how to translate the soul of a place for those experiencing it for the first time.

VISION
Birth of Original Travels

The Birth of Original Travels

What began as informally guiding friends through my beloved Morocco evolved into a vision for a different kind of travel company—one that would transcend typical tourism and create journeys of genuine connection and transformation.

Original Travels was born from this vision: to craft experiences that honor Morocco's cultural heritage, support local communities, and invite travelers to move beyond observation into authentic participation.

I wanted to create journeys that would linger in travelers' hearts long after they returned home—experiences that would change not just how they saw Morocco, but how they saw the world.

The Philosophy of Presence

My approach to travel is guided by a simple yet profound principle: the quality of our experiences depends not on how many places we visit, but on how deeply we inhabit each moment.

This philosophy of presence transforms how we design every journey. Rather than rushing from landmark to landmark, we create space for unhurried exploration, chance encounters, and the magic that happens when we surrender to the rhythm of a place.

Slow travel isn't about moving at a leisurely pace—it's about giving yourself permission to fully arrive, to let a place seep into your bones, to form connections that transcend the transactional nature of tourism.

This approach shapes every aspect of our journeys: the carefully paced itineraries, the relationships we've built with local communities, and our commitment to creating moments of genuine exchange rather than staged authenticity.

Through presence, travelers don't just see Morocco—they taste its complex flavors, feel its ancient rhythms, hear its stories, and connect with its people in ways that transform both visitor and host.

Our Roots

A Father's Vision, A Family's Journey

The story of Moroccan Explorers begins not with us, but with our father – a humble villager from the Atlas Mountains who made an extraordinary choice. In a time when few left their villages, he ventured beyond the mountains, not in pursuit of personal fortune, but to provide education for his brothers and sisters under the most challenging circumstances.

His sacrifice became the foundation upon which our family built its future. Through unwavering determination and profound belief in education's power, he created opportunities that transformed not just his siblings' lives, but generations to follow. Today, we – his sons Abdel, Mohamed, and Hamza – carry forward his legacy as travel designers at Original Travels, each bringing unique perspectives shaped by our father's values.

"The greatest inheritance a parent can give to his children is a few minutes of their time each day." Our father gave us much more – he gave us his vision for a better future and taught us that true success lies in lifting others as you rise.

But perhaps his most important lesson was never to forget our origins. He instilled in us the vital importance of returning to our village, of maintaining our connection to our cultural roots and traditions. Each journey home is both a celebration of where we've come from and an opportunity to give back to the community that shaped us.
