About Talasin

Talasin, an Amazigh name meaning “stories” or “tales,” is a holistic endeavor to preserve, revitalize, and elevate Morocco’s ancient craft of weaving handmade rugs. Deeply enmeshed with the lands, people, and fauna of the northern Maghreb, each Amazigh rug tells a story, capturing the essence of its heritage.

Founded at the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains, Talasin draws from the rich, ancient materials and processes to reintroduce and reinvent this cherished art. Our weaving atelier, led by skilled local women, is dedicated to refining Morocco’s rug-making traditions while ensuring fair wages, flexible working conditions, and the cultural empowerment of its artisans.

Through each handcrafted piece, Talasin celebrates the skill, culture, and community of Morocco’s Amazigh women, honoring both their craft and their legacy.

Weave Workshop - Half Day

In this half-day workshop, you’ll learn to weave on a wooden frame loom with henna-dyed wool, using traditional Amazigh symbols. This hands-on experience connects you to the nearly lost Berber knot technique, found only in the Atlas Mountains, giving each piece a unique texture and an authentic Amazigh signature.

After the workshop, you can take your work home, a lasting piece of Moroccan heritage. For a small additional fee, you can also purchase the frame loom to continue weaving at your leisure.
